2016 – September 8 – 2017 is the Jubilee year of the 300th anniversary of the Coronation of the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Czestochowa with Papal crowns. This celebration took place in 1717 in Czestochowa, Poland. The crowns were sent by Pope Clemens XI. It was for the first time in the history that such an event took place outside of Rome. Today we wish to honor Mary, not with golden crowns, but with our life in accord with the Gospel. St. Irenaeus said that „The glory of God is man fully alive”. In order for this to happen, we need a continuous repentance. That is why we would like to offer our spiritual gifts to the Blessed Mother – because they show whether Mary truly reigns in our life.

In union with this Jubilee year of the coronation of Our Lady at Jasna Gora, Poland, we, as the devotees of the Blessed Mother, living in the United States, would also like to honor Mary during this time. After all, She is present with all of us, in every place, on every continent, and in every country. We experience this intimacy with our Mother especially here, at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, in Doylestown, PA – known as the American Czestochowa – where She has been reigning for over 60 years. On this occasion we would like to honor the Mother of God by offering all our intentions, resolutions and spiritual gifts, as well as our faces – because they form a true and a living crown for our Mother, and it is that with them we can decorate Her sacred image. Therefore the Pauline monks of the American Czestochowa invite all of you to join in our efforts of creating a „Living Crown of Mary”.

STEP 1: Become visible to Mary

Place your own photograph, or of someone you love, in an envelope and mail it to our Shrine. We make up the Living Crown of Mary – our faces, with our life and our past and present are written on them. Our desires, experiences, joys and sufferings are imbedded in our eyes. We want to be the face of Mary! We are going to place your photo in the Chapel of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

You can also send your photo in electronic format. In this way we are wining a new continent for Mary. A continent which is the internet. Let us conquer it for Mary!

Submitted pictures (both paper and electronic) will be used to create a large mosaic of Our Lady of Czestochowa. The mosaic will be made from the submitted photographs and it will be displayed at our Shrine.

STEP 2: Offer a spiritual gift to Mary

Submit to Mary, not only your photographed face, but also along with it, offer Her your heart. On the back of the photograph, as well as on Photo Release Form or electronically, write down, what spiritual gift you would like to make to the Blessed Mother. May it be a testimony of deep desire to change your life.

Offer to Mary something that is most beautiful – maybe it will be a confession made after many years, or it can be a reconciliation with someone you are in a long conflict with, or a decision to quit addictions such as alcohol, drugs, or pornography…, or perhaps it will be something that will keep you motivated every day to repent, prepare you to change your life – for instance a decade of Holy Rosary, reading the Bible or a spiritual book.. Find something for yourself – something that you can offer to Mary.

STEP 3: Take Mary into your life

In response to your spiritual gift as well as your submitted photo, we will send you the image of Our Lady of Czestochowa, as a sign that you are a precious jewel in the Living Crown of Mary. In this way, you can invite Mary again into your home, your family and your life. Place in Her hands all your worries and  your entire life. Let Her become the Queen of your life!
